Name: Marc Daymond
Job Title: Recruitment Team Lead
How does it feel to be recognised by your colleagues and what was your secret to success this month?
It feels amazing to be recognized by my colleagues here at Planet Pharma; I have been here for 3 years now and have built great relationships with people here, so to be recognized by them is fantastic.
Talk us through your recruitment experience and areas of expertise?
I have been working in recruitment for the past 7 years now, started off in Hospitality Recruitment before moving into Nursing Recruitment for 3 years before coming to Planet Pharma. I don’t limit myself to one specific area. I tend to put my hand to anything, but I mostly enjoy the difficult niche technical or engineering roles.
If you could go back and give one piece of advice to yourself right at the start of your recruitment career, what would it be?
Just own it…own everything you do and commit yourself to being the best recruiter you can be. I also wish I had started my career about 2/3 years earlier than I did so I could have capitalized on the outside IR35 contractor market.
What’s one thing you’d like potential candidates and clients to know about Planet Pharma?
Behind Planet Pharma’s doors are some hardworking recruiters, sales, and back office teams who are all trying to make our clients’ and candidates’ lives easier.
What would you say is unique about our culture here?
Our culture is unique because we are a “patchwork quilt” of personalities. We hire people who have the necessary experience, align with our culture/values, and demonstrate strong potential for growth. We believe that a good team fit, and potential are just as important as experience, which is great and refreshing.
If you threw a dinner party and could invite 4 famous faces – who would they be?
I would invite King Henry VIII, Winston Churchill, Miriam Margolyes, and Tom Hanks.
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Sirloin Steak (Medium rare), Fat chunky chips, Garlic Mushrooms, Tender Stem broccoli, and Blue Cheese Sauce!
If you weren’t working in Recruitment, what would you be doing?
Well, if you ask any of my friends over the years, I have wanted to do many careers, like becoming a vet, but I don’t really like being close to animals, a Chiropractor (random), or a Stockbroker, but I am not too keen on maths. I think I have found my perfect career, to be fair. I think I have found my perfect career.
Finally, what do you think makes an MVP at Planet Pharma?
It’s not solely about figures and billings; it’s the impact you have on the environment and what vibe you can bring. Ideally, you could be an all-rounder, but you definitely need to have elements of all of it.
