Our client had a number of assets moving into the clinic as well as others that were progressing into late development across a range of indications.
- Their team were hugely under-resourced against the company’s objectives.
- There was also a recruitment strategy hamstrung by a lack of talent with global development experience based in-country.
As a solution, Planet Pharma proposed a flexible resourcing model through utilisation of contractors/consultants that would enable them to hire across the development lifecycle and give them access to talent throughout Europe. This would bring the experience and know-how to advance their R&D efforts, regardless of whether they had an entity in the country where the contractor/consultant was based.
Our client was able to progress their R&D on multiple fronts across 9 difference countries within the US and Europe, with a total of 16 consultants placed over a 6 month period:
- Toxicology & Pharmacokinetics to review pre-clinical data and support the design of further pre-clinical studies.
- “Board Certified” Clinical Development Physicians in several therapeutic areas able to provide strategic oversight of translational activities along with studies in early & late clinical development, develop protocols & CDP’s.
- Regulatory professionals to accelerate approvals for a number of clinical trials to start.
- Clinical Operations professionals (CPMs, Senior CPMs) to oversee under-performing CROs and plan & lead clinical trials.
- Quality professionals to support with the creation & implementation of new SOPs (GCP, GMP, GvP, Corporate) and QMS.
Through our 180 model, our BD Director was able to integrate with the leadership team to understand the right solution on a function-by-function basis, spending time onsite to ensure Planet Pharma’s recruitment team were able to accurately brief the candidates/consultants/contractors. With Planet Pharma’s broad functional area expertise, we were able to act as their sole staffing partner across a range of skillsets.
Due to the increase in workforce, post contractor and client management is key to the success of the programme. As such we operate a bi-weekly and monthly review programme, analysing spend, utilisation and efficiency to ensure value in both performance and financial management. This has been done through tailored metrics tracked through a variety of proprietary time tracking and performance systems.
